At the 1983 Geneva Motor Show, Zagato presented the beautiful compact 2+2 Zeta 6 that was based on Alfa Romeo GTV6 (Italdesign) running gear with 2.5 V6 engine. It was a self financed Zagato project, and can be singled out as one of the most beautiful Zagato creations of the 1980s. Sadly just a handful were build.
Alfa Romeo Zeta Sei Zagato, 1983 All the classic Zagato trade-marks have been woven in, like the buxom double-bubble roof bulges and side windows that extend up into the roof.
The Alfa Romeo Zeta 6 (Sei) was styled by Zagato’s chief stylist Giuseppe Mittino, applying trademark cues from the Milanese house such as the short overhangs, compact cockpit and the famous double-bubble roof. It was this car which prompted Victor Gauntlet at Aston Martin to develop the attractive Aston Martin Zagato V8 project, another beautiful graceful design from the ‘80s to bear also the famous Z badge.
